p, p, what begins with p?

Plans for partying poolside went kaput thanks to the pouring rain. Instead, a perfect morning of playing inside with playmate Eleanor!

a few more things.

A few other things about our 13 month old, with some pictures during/after Taco Night:

She's a much more picky eater than she used to be, and she still refuses to drink much of anything. Unless it's a smoothie from her rocket ship cup.

She makes this face on command:

If something makes her happy, she wiggles! Earlier today, that meant wiggling on her stomach, worm-esque, while drinking her smoothie and listening to Putumayo Kids.

13 months old.

What can I do this month?

Point out and identify all kinds of things in the books I read -- if it's possible, I'm even more into reading than before! Sometimes I even cry before naptime when Mama takes the book away from me.

Brush my teeth and comb my hair -- well, pretty close to it, anyway.

Allllllmost sleep through the night. I'm getting close!

Take a few halting steps. Sometimes, when I'm in the mood. But never when you ask.

Drag my babydoll around everywhere I go, give her kisses, and rock her in my arms. She is my favorite!

I can put puzzle pieces back into the puzzle, put rings back onto my stacker, and sometimes stack a block on top of another one. I also put things back into the containers I took them out of. For some reason, my mom finds this really amazing.

I recognize so many songs now and dance and dance whenever they come on the stereo. I've also figured out how to turn it off and on -- even though I'm not supposed to touch the buttons.

I'm getting two new teeth -- just in time to have a goofy grin for Ross and Meredith's wedding!

I can make even more animal noises now. A snake sound is very hard to make with my lack of teeth, but I try my best!

I am obsessed with looking at the pictures of our family on the hallway wall. Mama and Daddy don't want to lift me up to see them as often as I'd like, though -- I don't know why, because it is so much fun to point at all the people I know!

When I see a car on the road, I sometimes say "ca-ca-ca." Mama and Daddy aren't convinced that it is a real word, so they haven't written it down in my baby book yet. I think they are expecting an awful lot from me, don't you?

I love to be outside in the summer sunshine and roll around in the grass. It also inspires me to stand up without pulling up, something that I'm getting to be a pro at.

I'm doing more and more every day!

(Mama forgot to do my monthly photo shoot until I was in the bath before bed -- if she could have captured my new bath antics in photo form, she probably would have. I like to flip over onto my stomach and kick and kick my legs and flail my arms just like I'm swimming!)

I scream, we scream...

Lorelei's first trip to Ollie's was this week on a very hot afternoon.

Who wants more frozen custard? I do!

What do you mean I've had enough already?

If you think we're leaving without a fight, you've got another think coming.

We can come back again soon? Hooray!

messy fun.

On a hot morning with not much to do, Lorelei and I stayed indoors and had some sensory playtime with a pan full of flour. It was a complete mess -- but I think also a big success!

out and about on Father's Day.

For Father's Day this year, we went to Blumen Gardens for their artist market and just to walk around and enjoy the beautiful blooms. We were also surprised and delighted to find out that they were having a pet adoption event there -- Lorelei was so excited about the puppies!

working on new skills.

Lorelei is becoming a pro at pointing out everything she knows and calling our attention to it. She especially likes to look longingly out the door at the world outside (chipmunks, squirrels, birds, cars -- so much to see!)

Lorelei has also been into imitating "adult" actions -- like combing her hair. Or baby doll's "hair."

She is also a pro at putting magnets on/off the fridge -- and identifying the animals by sound for you. Most of the time, if you ask her to find a specific one, she can do it right away! Here she is demonstrating her love of cows.

let's go to the pool!

Gramma B was in town for Meredith's bridal shower -- we managed to sneak in some pool time, too!

visit from Papa Alan.

My dad snuck in a two day visit this week in between other obligations. We celebrated with a trip to the park and a failed attempt to watch the transit of Venus.

(Ross let Lorelei play with his phone AND his laptop. She was in baby heaven!)
